Hypnotic

I swear that those voices put me in a trance every time.

Every time.

KillTheTrucker responds:

Make sure you don't get addicted to them ;)

Sent me into a trance.

That's a great start an album any way you look at it. It was toying with my mind hard. I couldn't tell if I was pumped or relaxed, it was an experience.

What are the actual voice samples? It sounded like the voices were virtual at first, but I'm no so sure. The "oo"s coming in at 2:30ish also bewildered me. I absolutely loved it. I'm also curious as to what software/suites you used for everything, because the drumset samples are great. Is this Cubase?

I need to start reviewing songs that aren't as good so that these 10s mean more. Great work.

KillTheTrucker responds:

Wow, thanks!
All voices are samples, got some problems with my microphone inputs on my computer and I've lost my mixing panel on some friend of mine. I should ask it back, but I haven't had the time yet.
I used FL Studio 8 XXL for this, I had to use three drumsets equally to make them loud enough, and did some extra mixing and editing with FL's mixer.
Great software, really.

Thanks for your review :)

Sick sounds

I gotta ask, what software do you use? That's an excellent sound for what I assume is MIDI.

Also, A+ on the scheme-y. Very evil.

Hot damn

That is some downright insane skill you got there.

I kind of wanted to ask if you did each piece in different takes and patch em together or if you did it all in one go or if you had any help with sheet music or had to work hard at each segment to get it right.

Then I realized I didn't want to know. Don't want to magic to wear out. I'll just go with the insane savant idea.

I didn't know the fairy fountain was so punk.

Man, that title made me laugh so hard.

This is a sick remix, through and through. I didn't even realize it was Zelda and that Fry was Fairy until the melody kicked in.

It's fun and refreshing, arranged perfectly, and the instrument choice is spot on. I dig.

BadCommandCo responds:

I wanted to type it properly, but Newgrounds is lame and has title limits, lol. Thanks.

Smooth

I was getting into it the more I listened to it. Really simple, really nice semi-easy listening. The ritard half way was surprising, but not in a bad way.

It's definitely Dm. You got a good bit of mode mixture (which I love) leading to the second to last pattern in the main line, but the main theme is A-Bb-A-F-D, and the bass-line has a C-natural. Got your key signature right there.

Doesn't make the D-major arrival any less gorgeous though.

BloodyN00b responds:

Wow, thanks for clearing all that up for me =D
I'm glad you enjoyed the song and I'm awestruck by your analysis. You have perfect pitch, right? I totally went into FL to check if what you wrote is true, and yes, you officially know more about my song than me =D

Beep

I can safely say I laughed pretty hard at the description.

Respect for working in Cubase, never used instruments within it before, only took advantage of its sequencing and audio manipulation side myself.

Started off cool, but was slow to get to the 1:30 mark, which is a shame because the old school synth at that point and the 2 minute mark is so slick. If the pacing were a little more aggressive, I'd be all over it, but if you meant for it to be a theme, then it's perfectly paced and you should ignore me.

Nice work.

i am the eggman, i am the walrus

This would make a sick character theme. Ever listen to the character themes of F-Zero GX? Because that level of focus and instant mood is spot on.

Unfinished product.

I'd like to give an honest review of the song, but I can't get past the recording quality. If it was recorded and mastered properly, I'd give it a chance, but despite listening to all of it, I couldn't figure out what I experienced.

Gotta ask if the first time really was better, because the lyrics sounded interesting, but the iffy syncing between the parts was way too distracting.

UrnSudden responds:

it was the...third time we ever tried to play it all the way through.she was just getting the rythm, the first time was bland.straight chords w/o the swing.n yeah,i completely understand.it was recorded on an ipod in my uncle's basement....

I dig

After the minute mark, I thought it was strong. It's a little slow to get off its feet (each idea got 4 measures each), but the second half makes up for it after the drop. I think if you had the opening have the same pacing as the second half (which only gives each idea 2 measures), it'd scale well.

The noodling at the 1:30ish mark was a really, really sick. It was an experience.

Nice work on the mastering, the recording is really clean. Brighter on the EQ to make it less muddy, and it'd be more finished than you think.

tootsie10 responds:

i agree with the paceing issue, im not very good with EQ's and mastering but ill give it a shot. Thank you for you review Keep It Real!
